CLASnet, a division of the Dean's Office, is the computer and networking group for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. We provide electronic mail, web space, network file & print sharing, and other networking services to over a thousand users in thirty departments within the college. We also maintain the network wiring in eleven college-occupied buildings.
CLASnet reports to Dr Margaret Fields, Director of Information Resources and Technological Programs for the College.
Some departments in CLAS have their own computing staff and resources, and don't use CLASnet. Thus, the information on this web site won't apply to users in Advising, Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Statistics, Quantum Theory Project, orZoology. You should check with the computer contacts in those departments for information on their systems.
Faculty, Staff, and graduate assistants in the departments served by CLASnet can get an account which gives them:
- An account on our file & print server, providing a secure location for files, access to network programs, and the ability to use network printers and share files with others in the department, college, or even across the university.
- Faculty and Staff receive a UF Exchange email account, which provides virtually unlimited email storage on a UF server that meets all of UF's security, reliablity, and E-discovery requirements.
- Access to the CLASnet web server, providing a website that that can be updated from the office or from home.
