Reporting a Problem

If you're a CLASnet user, and you're experiencing a networking problem, you should first talk to your department's computer contact. They will get in touch with us if the problem can't be handled locally. If the contact is unavailable, and the problem can not wait until they return, you may contact us directly.

The best way to contact us is to report the problem via our web form. The first person available will either call or email you back, depending on the nature of the problem.

Normal Business Hours

During normal office hours, you can reach us by emailing us. We'll read your message, and then the person most able to help you will respond. We usually respond within a matter of hours, if not sooner. We should respond to all requests by the end of the next busines day at the latest.

If you cannot access your email, you can call us at 846-1990. The Director's number is 392-2263. However, we're often out of the office helping people, so our turnaround time is usually slower for voice messages than for email. If no one is in the office, please leave a message, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Evening & Weekend Hours

Our mandate is to provide service during the business day. That said, we provide limited after-hours support to critical emergencies affecting entire buildings or departments.

If there's a serious networking problem outside of the normal 8-5 hours (a server is down, or an entire building is offline) you can call us at 846-1990 and select the "network emergency" option on the voice mail menu. Your call will be routed to one of our cell phones. If you receive voice mail at this point, leave a message explaining the problem and your phone number. We will get in touch with you as soon as possible. Please remember we're not on call, so we may be temporarily outside of service range.

If you want to, you can even send us campus mail. We all get mail at 2014 Turlington Hall, an occasionally at PO Box 112034. Please leave an alternate method to contact you, as our handwriting is horrendous, and you don't want to get a handwritten reply from us. Trust us.
