Microsoft Campus Agreement

The University of Florida has signed a contract with Microsoft that provides Microsoft Office Professional, Microsoft Windows, and a client access license to anyone who is an employee of the University (including OPS students). This agreement is in effect until October 31st, 2007.

Students who are not employees of the University are not included in this agreement, although they can access the software on University owned machines (such as in labs). A separate agreement is currently being negotiated that would cover non-employee student use on privately owned machines.

Computers running Microsoft Windows connected to the Clasnet Netware servers will find an icon to install Microsoft Office Professional in the Clasnet Applications\Microsoft Office installers menu.

Techs and departmental computer contacts can access the Macintosh version of Microsoft Office Professional by making a traditional Appletalk connection to the CLAS server in the Liberal Arts zone, then mounting the TEMP volume. The installers can be found in the MSMEDIA folder.

What's covered under the Agreement

Microsoft Windows Operating System upgrade
A computer must be currently licensed with a Microsoft Windows OS to qualify for the upgrade.
Microsoft Office Professional Suite
This includes MS Publisher, but not Frontpage. Macintosh versions of the software are included as well.
Microsoft Client Access License (CAL)
CALs allow a client to access a Microsoft File or Print server. Note that MS-Exchange server CALs are not included.

Home Use Provision

Home use is included in the agreement. This means an employee can check out a copy of the media from their departmental computer contact and install Office and a version of Microsoft Windows on a single computer and laptop that is owned and primarily used by the employee. It is the departmental contact's responsibility to to distribute a copy of the license agreement document to any employee who wants to take a product home to install under the Home Use terms and ask them to sign off on it.

Handouts

Products not covered by the Microsoft contract

This agreement only covers the software programs listed above, for those specific licensed users. All other Microsoft software and licenses must be purchased separately. Dell Computers holds the Microsoft Select license for the UF campus. If you need to purchase any licenses for Microsoft's software, you'll need to visit this site:

http://www.purchasing.ufl.edu/main_contracts-microsoft.asp

Under the older Campus Select Agreement, ordering the license for the current version allows you to install any of the older revisions of the software. Please follow the instructions on UF's Dell/Microsoft page about obtaining a copy of the invoice (under the section titled "To Obtain Your Invoice For Your Microsoft Select Purchase").
