Pugh Hall is the first CLAS building with card access for the exterior doors. Each department with space in Pugh Hall provides a list of authorized users' UFID numbers to CLASnet, and those users' Gator 1 cards are enabled to unlock the exterior doors. The doors will normally be unlocked during class hours, so cards are only needed for late-night, weekend and holiday access.
If you have a conference, meeting, or other event on a weekend or holiday, please request the Pugh Hall doors be unlocked for your event at least three (3) business days in advance.
Below are the Pugh front door readers. The card swipe is on the left under it's rain hood. Next to it are a proximity reader and door opener for ADA access.
To unlock the exterior door with an authorized card, hold the card in your right hand with the right thumb covering your photo and slide the lower edge of the card into the reader. The reader should accept the card being swept either upwards or downwards in the slot. After sliding a valid card, the light will turn green and the door will unlock briefly.
If your card does not unlock the door, please first check with your department to ensure that your UFID number is on the authorized users list. CLASnet can check the card reader logs to determine whether the correct magnetic strip was read, and whether your UFID is correctly encoded on the card.
Some very old UFID cards may still have the user's social security number encoded on the magnetic stripe, even though the UFID number is written on the front. Gator 1 card services can re-encode such cards for free.
