In Eudora version 4.32, message filters are created and displayed
on the Address Book screen. Follow the following steps to
create a filter to automatically remove mail that is tagged as spam:
- Go to the Tools menu and choose Filters.
- Click on New in the Bottom Left corner of the window.
- Leave Incoming checked on the right side.
- Pull down the Header pulldown box and choose
Subject:.
- On the next line down, leave the value contains. In the
box to the right of contains, type in the word to filter.
In this case, we want this filter to act on any message that
contains a subject that includes the tag [SPAM], so
this is what you should type in the box to the right.
- Ignore the other boxes in this upper section.
- In the bottom part of the window, under Action, pull
down the first box and choose Transfer To. To the right
of this, choose the box to transfer the message to. To delete
the message entirely, choose the Trash folder as the
destination.
- Close this Window. Answer "Yes" to save the changes that you've
made. This filter should automatically apply itself to
messages that appear in the "In" folder from this point on.
Depending on what sort of messages you expect, it make be safer to
transfer the messages to another folder instead of trashing them. In
this case, create the new folder before you create the filter, then
choose that folder in Transfer to. Remember to check the
folder on a regular basis, and delete any unwanted messages.
