What is the Mozilla profile directory?

The Mozilla profile directory is the location where Mozilla keeps bookmark files, address books, history files, the prefs.js file and other miscellaneous settings files containing program settings for Mozilla.

It also contains "Local Folders" mail folders, and index files for message folders that are on the Imap server.
