How to create a
mail list in the Mozilla address book.
Open the Mozilla address book by either clicking on the notecard icon
in the bottom left corner of the program, or by going to the Window
menu and choose Address Book.
Either choose one of the existing Address Books to create the new
Mailing list in, or create a new Address Book by going to the File menu
and choose New, then Address Book.
Either highlight the address book on the left side, then choose the New
List icon out of the toolbar, or right click on the Address book and
choose New List.
The List Name field is the only required box that you have to fill out.
The nickname field can be used if you'd like a shortcut method to
address a message to a mailing list. For example, rather than
addressing a message to "members of my bridge club section b", you
could use a nickname like "bridgeb" for the list. When you
compose a message, you can type in "bridgeb", and Mozilla will look up
the nickname and substitute the correct mailing list name out of your
address book.
The description field is optional, and whatever is typed there just
displays in the address book list.
To populate a mailing list with email addresses, you can:
- open the mailing list by double
clicking on it and type in email
addresses one line at a time
- drag entries out of the address book and drop them on the mailist
list
icon on the left side.
- right click on an email address in a mail message and choose
"Add to
Address Book"
(it will prompt you for the address book to add them to).
