This site depends heavily on Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). While it will work without CSS, it does look much better if you enable CSS.

What is in the Mozilla profile directory?

Files

prefs.js
contains all of the settings for the Mozilla program
*.mab Mozilla Mail address books. You may have several - one for each entry on the left side in your address book.
bookmarks.html The Mozilla bookmarks file
cert#.db holds web server certificates that are used for secure browsing
cookies.txt
holds website cookies
*.rdf
a generic file type that is used for many program settings in Mozilla.

examples:
downloads.rdf  - a history file showing the files that have been downloaded
mimetypes.rdf  - tells Mozilla what external program to use to open files (such as .pdf) that it doesn't handle natively.
search.rdf         - a list of search engine plugins that are installed that the Search toolbar can use.
history.dat contains a history of sites visited
parent.lock
a file that shows that Mozilla is open and in use. Gets created when Mozilla starts, and is erased when Mozilla is completely closed.
training.dat
contains a record of messages that have been marked as "spam" by the user. This is used by the Mozilla spam filter to try to determine if a message is spam.
*.ics Mozilla calendar files. Located in the Calendars Folder
*.msf
Mail folder index files. Each Imap folder on the mail server results in a locatl .msf file with the sme name. The .msf file contains information about each message in the folder, such as whether it's been read or not, whether it's been labeled (important, work, etc), the way that messages are sorted in the folder, whether a message has been replied to.
msgFilterRules.dat
Mozilla Message filters. If you define a Mail Filter in Mozilla Mail, the filter gets stored in this file. This file is located in the root of a mail server folder. For example, if you have 2 mail servers defined in Mozilla - one for CLAS, one for Gatorlink, and you have filters defined for each server, you'll find a msgFilterRules.dat file in the ImapMail\imap.clas.ufl.edu directory and the ImapMail\imap.ufl.edu directory.

Folders

Calendars holds .ics files for the Mozilla Calendar add-on
chrome
holds settings files that are used by the default color scheme that Mozilla uses
ImapMail contains a folder named afer each Imap server that has been defined in Mozilla's mail client.  Each Imap server folder contains index files for each Imap mail folder on the server, a msgFilterRules.dat file (if Mail filters have been defined for that mail server), and possibly filtering and junk mail logs.html (if logging has been turned on).

If you have subfolders inside of folders on the Imap mail server, you'll also see folders here with a .sbd extension that contain .msf index files for the mailboxes inside of the subfolder.
Mail
contain local mail folders and their index files. There are two files that go with every local folder:

One is a file that has no extension. This is a plain text file that contains the text for all of the messages in your local mail folder.

The other is a .msf file that acts as an index for the file with no extension.

warning: If you have trouble with a local mail folder, it's ok to delete the .msf file for that folder. It contains information about the messages in a folder, such as whether they've been read or replied to, but not the actual messages themselves.  The .msf file will recreate itself when the folder is reopened. However, the file with no extension contains the messages themselves, so it should never be deleted, unless you do not want the messages contained in it any more.
News
if you configure Mozilla mail to read newsgroup messages, this folder will contain a subfolder for each news server that contains .msf index files for each newsgroup that has been subscribed to, and possibly a .dat file with settings for the newsgroup.
