In spring 2007, the UF College of Liberal Arts & Sciences began a multi-year project to migrate from multiple stand-alone computer systems to a consolidated Single Sign-On (SSO) system. This project uses the University of Florida's Active Directory system as the basis for the college's new SSO, and will provide authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) for not just CLAS faculty and staff, but students and colleagues throughout the world.
This migration is one of the largest IT projects we've attempted in the Dean's Office. While all of us will experience some short-term discomfort as we transfer over to the new technologies, we will benefit long-term as we align our efforts with those in the rest of the university. We look forward to your patience and cooperation as we move forward in this endeavor.
These documents are for departments, centers, and institutes in CLAS participating in the CLASnet migration from Novell Netware/eDirectory to Microsoft Windows/Active Directory. Other CLAS units will be invited to participate after the CLASnet migration.
As of May 7th 2008, CLAS will outsource our Exchange email system to the UF Exchange Team. Faculty and staff currently using the CLASnet IMAP server will be migrated during the summer. Graduate students will be migrated to the Gatorlink email server. After our current IMAP server is phased out, we will invite other units to migrate to UF Exchange as well.
