In spring 2007, the UF College of Liberal Arts & Sciences began a multi-year project to migrate from multiple stand-alone computer systems to a consolidated Single Sign-On (SSO) system. This transition will give you new tools to allow your computers to meet the new legal security and privacy guidelines required by federal laws. The project uses the University of Florida's Active Directory system as the basis for the college's new SSO, and will provide authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) for not just CLAS faculty and staff, but students and colleagues throughout the world.
This migration is one of the largest IT projects we've attempted in the Dean's Office. While all of us will experience some short-term discomfort as we transfer over to the new technologies, we will benefit long-term as we align our efforts with those in the rest of the university. We look forward to your patience and cooperation as we move forward in this endeavor. To ensure any work interruptions are as brief as possible, we will send your department contact a few checklists and spreadsheets to ensure all the required preparations are carried out ahead of time.
