As we migrate the faculty and staff to UF Exchange, we must ensure that graduate students continue to have access to a robust and functional email system. The University of Florida has invested in the Gatorlink services for email and other internet services.
Students with existing CLASnet IMAP email accounts will be migrated to Gatorlink concurrent to the faculty and staff UF Exchange migration. Such students will need to configure email clients such as Thunderbird to access the Gatorlink server instead of CLASnet. The installation/configuration instructions are available at http://www.circa.ufl.edu/cd-rom/version8/email/.
The default Gatorlink quota is 175MB. However, CLAS students migrating from CLASnet IMAP have special quotas, and thus may exceed this allocation following their mailbox migration.
Conversion of Individual Users to Gatorlink Email
As we migrate a unit to UFAD and UF Exchange, the students will be migrated en-masse to Gatorlink email. We follow a number of procedures to ensure no email messages are lost.
- Any Gatorlink forwarding address is removed.
- The official UF Business Email address is reset to <GLuser@ufl.edu>.
- The departmental email address is forwarded to Gatorlink email.
- The CLASnet email messages are migrated to a new Gatorlink mail folder named "CLAS-mail".
- Any "grads" email list will be updated to note the Gatorlink email address.
